Meal Plans 101

Having a meal plan means more than just convenience - it's your key to enjoying craveable meals across campus. With chef-inspired menus, local ingredients, and sustainable practices, your dining experience is as dynamic as campus life.

What is a Meal Plan?

A Meal Plan unlocks delicious meals, coffee, snacks, and more, at three dining locations across campus. Your Meal Plan includes Meal Swipes and Monty Bucks, conveniently loaded onto your student ID. No need to carry additional cards! Meal Swipes gives you access to our all-you-care-to-eat dining hall, Schreiner Diner. Meal Swipes reset on Fridays.

What is a Meal Exchange?

Meal Swipes can be used for Meal Exchange for select menu items marked by a paw print exclusively at 1923 at Lion's Den.

Current Meal Exchange Locations and access time includes:

  • 7:00am - 11:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • 5:00pm - 11:00pm, Saturday - Sunday

Meal Plan holders may use multiple Meal Swipes in a meal period. Meal Swipes reset on Fridays.

Monty Bucks

Monty Bucks may be used at any on-campus dining locations and Byte Vending machines. Visit our locations page for location information, including dining hall menus and hours of operations

  • Monty Bucks can be used for meals, snacks, beverages, etc. at any on-campus dining location and Byte Vending machines located across campus
  • Monty Bucks are included with Gold and Platinum tiered meal plans. Staying on the Gold or Platinum Plan means your account will be loaded with Monty Bucks in Fall and Spring semester.
  • Remaining Monty Bucks roll over from Fall to Spring semester.
  • Any Monty Bucks included with a meal plan expire at the end of the Spring semester. These funds are not available for use after a student or faculty/staff member has either graduated or is no longer an active students or staff member at Schreiner University.
  • Remaining Monty Bucks reloaded in-person or through the SU Hospitality Portal carry over until student or faculty/staff member has either graduated or is no longer an active students or staff member at Schreiner University.

Your Meal Plan Access

  • Meal Swipes

    Meal Swipes give you access to all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, offering variety of delicious and fresh options for every meal.

  • Monty Bucks

    Dining Dollars are prepaid funds that can be used at any campus dining location to conveniently purchase food, snacks, and beverages. 

  • Meal Exchange

    Meal Exchange lets you trade a Meal Swipe for select menu items at participating campus retail locations, giving you more flexibility on the go.

Don't Miss These Dates

Mark your calendar! Each semester, important dates like the start of meal plan usage, when to make changes, and deadlines for billing and sign-ups keeps your plan running smoothly.

January 16:  First Day of Service

Meal Plans Activated. Browse standard locations hours.

Until February 4th: Last Day to Change Your Meal Plan

Last day to add or make changes to your meal plan on Schreiner ONE Portal.

February 28 - March 8:  MB Reload Promotion

Earn $15 in monty bucks for every $100 you add!

May 12th

Last Day of Service & Meal Plans. Remaining Monty Bucks included with a meal plan expire.

May 12th - Dining Locations Hours

  • Schreiner Diner: 7:00am - 9:00pm
  • 1923 at Lion's Den: 7:00am - 11:00pm
  • Convenience Store: 9am - 3:30pm
